Who WHO ARE WE?

WHO IS THE SIBLING GROUP?

TS at the Faire Let us tell you a tale...

Long, long ago in a Shire far away, two sisters, Maryanne & Tina, became the "Herb Ladies" at a Renaissance Faire.  While there, we continued our education about herbs,  built a nice little business and had a great time!  After a few years there, we were known as "The Twisted Sisters." A name we used during a short lived Halloween show...  but the name stuck!

After a few years, the magic of the faire experience began to fade and we longed for a shop where we could make our own rules and fortune.

We left the faire and ventured to a small town in Pennsylvania called Landisville where we lived that dream.
We opened our shop and as our shop fairy, "Rosie", floated serenely over the sign, we knocked ourselves out building the business.  We enjoyed our day to day retail customers  while also selling many of our products to other shops. We gave classes and spoke to groups. We had a bi-monthly newsletter and even wrote a book about our adventures.

Five years of this, following the Faire experience, and burnout took its toll. Our families were suffering along with our nerves, but we had built a going business and it was sold.  Exhausted, we went our separate ways.
Rudolph's Revenge
EH Cover Tina expanded the newsletter and eventually founded her own magazine, "The Essential Herbal".

Her readers and writers combine to make it a great resource for all things herbal. Each issue is full of all sorts of "herbie" information ranging through all the aspects of the topic.

It's usually centered around whatever is happening in the herb garden or the "still room" at that particular time of the year unless the folks on her yahoo list come up with something of special interest.

Don't forget to check all the wonderful "herbie" books on the Essential Herbal page of the site.   The subject of herbs is inexhaustible.
Maryanne, on the other hand, brought the soap business home and proceeded to build a wholesale soap business called Lancaster County Soapworks, Etc.

We are in a popular tourist area and she themed her products around our back-to-basics culture.  Some of the soaps were retained from the shop...    Lavender and Wise Woman, for instance, will always be perennial favorites.
She gets many requests from visitors to our area to buy the products they have purchased here when they get home and can no longer find that great handmade soap or those oh-so-effective Sinus Sniffing Jars.

..AND FINALLY.......

Sibling groupWe got together again and began experimenting with new recipes and techniques.  A Salt Spa Soap was our first joint venture and we were puzzled since it didn't really "fit" into either of our lines.  The "Road Apples" were created as a nod to our Amish heritage and Rudolph's Revenge followed.

We knew we wanted to be able to offer the sometimes wacky or extra luxurious things we were creating and decided to start something new.

We will be coming up with new items from time to time and offering the latest on our front page, along with the other goodies from our separate websites.

The plus for you is that we will combine orders and shipping will be free for any order totalling $40 or more (not including subscriptions).

We offer free shipping for orders totaling over $40!
